Fred Wong will introduce you to the wonderful hobby of bird watching by providing insights into bird behavior, identification, and habitat.

Join Tina Clark, Historian, City Archaeologist, and Grant Writer for the City of Yuma tasked to the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area as she takes you through a photographic history of Yuma.

Restoring the Colorado River Delta:  Heart of the Pacific Flyway
Join Dr. Francisco Zamora from the Sonoran Institute and Dr. Osvel Hinojosa from Pronatura as they examine the natural and man-made changes occurring in the Delta and provide an overview on current activities to restore this unique Bird habitat.

An introduction to the flashy world of damselflies and dragonflies; how to find and identify these dynamic predators with author and expert Rich Bailowitz.

Karen Reichhardt, a local expert botanist will discuss infinite varieties of flora that grow in the desert and how they flourish in their harsh environment.

Wings in the Wilderness

Visually illustrated with stunning photographs this program, hosted by our Special Guest Speaker Bobby Harrison, will take you to hidden swamps and wetlands, forests and deserts – from the vanishing Everglades to the barren tundra of Alaska and the remote islands of the Bering Sea.  Hear stories behind the photographs and the natural histories of birds that this photographer has encountered throughout his travels.

Sonoran Desert’s Tropical Connections
Join Jim Rorabaugh for a seminar detailing how the origins of the Sonoran Desert’s flora and fauna lie primarily to the south in the Thornscrub and Tropical Deciduous Forests of northwestern Mexico.

Techniques and Tips for Better Bird Photography

Join our Special Guest Speaker, Bobby Harrison and learn techniques that will make you a better bird photographer.  This beautifully illustrated how-to program not only covers techniques that will improve your bird photography, but will also give insight to bird behavior which is an essential element to successful bird photography regardless of your experience.

Back to Birding’s Beginnings:  Lessons from a New Approach to Nature
Birding, and conservation in general, gives the impression of being a sort of “finished product”.  But we all know that both ornithology and conservation biology are more like works in progress.  So let’s have a closer look at what we believe, why we believe it, and where the thoughts of scientists in the field suggest we might be headed in the future.  Hosted by our Keynote speaker John Acorn.

Join local birding expert Henry Detwiler for his tips on Birding photography.  This seminar will lead into a Wildlife photography Field Trip starting at 830am hosted by Henry.

Yuma East Wetlands Restoration
Join the staff of the Yuma East Wetlands Restoration project for a lecture and slide show of the efforts being put forth to restore Yuma’s wetlands.  This seminar will lead to a volunteer planting trip to the East Wetlands Restoration area where you can lend a hand in restoring a natural bird habitat.
